Oceanside - La Costa Canyon coach Darrin Brown got excited this off-season, realizing that he finally had a true blue chipper - a player with ankle breaking jukes and burning speed - to throw into the mix, and position around the field to strike from any angle. Enter Kenny Stills.

Friday night Stills lined up in the punter position on a 4th down. Carlsbad, the fans, and myself immediately assumed a fake was surely coming. Little did we know Stills could boot actually the ball about 40 yards - and that's exactly what he did.

The Mavericks blew out the Lancers in a game that delivered an exciting first half, full of a touchdown, another touchdown, and another touchdown by Kenny Stills. The first was a strike thrown by junior quarterback Garrett Krstich, connecting with stills on a slant for a long 60-yard touchdown score.

After Carlsbad kicked a field goal to make it 7-3, on the ensuing kickoff, Kenny decided to take it back 99 yards for the touchdown. His lightning quick shake and bake moves makes him tough to bring down.

Kenny capped off his trifecta with a 2nd quarter 38 yard touchdown lob pass from Krstich again. Seth Hanson iced the game with a 4-yard rushing touchdown up the middle.

Carlsbad finished the first half a bit shell shocked down 27-3, and the rest was history.

The second half turned into a blah, back and forth sloppy football with numerous turnovers. La Costa kicker Robert Zalud, who unfortunately got absolutely rocked on a fumbled long snap, came back with a field goal, and the clock expired.

Stills, a top wide receiver prospect in the nation, caught six passes for 144 yards. Krstich was 11-of-23 passing for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mavericks beat the Lancers for the third straight time stemming back to last season. La Costa Canyon will now battle south San Diego team Chula Vista at home next Friday.

Stills is dynamic. The best athlete at La Costa Canyon ever. If the offensive line can hold up, LCC is clearly the favorite to win CIF again. The Junior quarterback looked impressive with his throws.

    LCC is a great team.
The Lancers are a joke. The coaching is an embarresment. The lancers coaches had no plan and still have no clue in week 7. It's no wonder parents are doing everything possible to get their boys onto another squad. If you think I'm joking...watch some film or come to a game.

I think the plan was to single cover one of the top rated WR's in the nation with a kid who was just moved to corner from safety.....watch the films.....
