The La Costa Canyon Mavericks played consistent ball on offense, but the Maverick defense captured the story in the 28-14 LCC victory.

The defense shut down the Santa Margarita rushing game, limiting them to 20 rushing yards in the first half. The Mavericks held for just two second half touchdowns. The "Gang Green" defense, led big hits and solid form tackles by Ian Seau, Justin Witzmann, and Paul Quessenberry dominated the Santa Margarita front and propelled the team to an impressive 28-14 win.

Quarterback Garrett Krstich scored on a 2-yard run after he marched the Mavericks down the field 83 yards on the opening drive of the game.

The Eagles were spying Kenny Stills the entire night, and other players stepped up including runningback Shea Backus and wide receiver Jacob Siem.

Runningback Seth Hanson was the work-horse, leading the offensive charge with 118 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. The Mavericks rushed for a staggering 296 yards on the night. Hanson is securing his position as one of the top runningbacks in North County.

La Costa Canyon is developing a nice little streak, adding their 13th victory in a row dating back to last year's loss against Santa Margarita.
